Kickin' off after a brief hiatus from the music scene, we're anxious to debut some newly written material as we head to the Machine Shop in Flint, MI. Mind Raped and Mastik join us on this bill, two Flint area metal bands with solid chops and metal prowess!! We're up last tonight, a good crowd is in anticipation as we unleash the belly of the beast on the Flint town folk. Another big thanks goes out to Kevin and Craig for keeping up the coolest rock bar in the USA! Cheers brah! We begin what will become a monthy Wednesday night streak with the first of three rocking Wednesdays to come, kicking it off in Detroit at Alvin's located in the infamous Cass Corridor area. Tonight we've been added as last minute (like 2 days ago last minute) openers for touring act Form of Rocket. Thankfully, we were able to pull together a small but anxious crowd to this early all ages show. We play to mostly our friends, actually, I don't recall there being anyone there that we didn't know so it's safe to say they were all our friends, with the exception of the headlining band, but it proves to be a fun show and another chance at working those new songs into our set. It's early and the show ends, we all head back home in anticipation of Ladyfest Lansing. It's Saturday April 17 and we head north to the capitol of Michigan. This is our third year participating in Ladyfest Lansing and they're always a blast. This time we're playing at an off venue which appears to be typically a dance type venue but nonetheless the crowds are here to rock and rock we do. Plenty of female led bands play all day and once the sun begins to fall, the amps crank up a notch and the bands get more aggressive. We're last tonight making us a Ladyfest headliner for the evening. The crowd watches anxiously as we annihilate the stage. Proceeds are donated to charity and worthy causes that we believe in so this show relies heavily on merchandise sales which do remarkably well tonight. And finally this month we head down to the State Theatre in Detroit as part of the 2004 Detroit Music Awards. Unfortunately we are not eligible for the ballot this year. The committee has a rule stating that a performer can win consistently for three years in a row within the same category but must be forfeited from the ballot the following year. So since we were the reigning three-time champs taking home the award for Outstanding Hard Rock/Metal act, it was now time to pass the torch. This year the award, rightfully so went to our pals in Forge. A much deserving band! But instead of being nominated and taking home an award, this year we were invited to present an award. Presenters for the Outstanding Rock n' Roll band are Broadzilla and Metro Times scribe and pin-up diva Sarah Klein. We give the award to the Kingsnakes, another deserving band of the title. It's a fun night but we're up to our ears with award goers so we opt out for a quite night at a corner bar in Hamtramck. See you next month! |
